Lindsey Wells is a self-taught painter driven by empathy, hope, passion for design and learning, and love of daydreaming and immersive thought.
She was born in California and mostly raised in Oklahoma. She had an interest in visual arts and music from a young age, but never considered it as a career choice. By choosing to pursue higher ed, she was able to escape her hometown. Her collegiate journey began with aspirations in architectural design; however, she ultimately went down the path of mathematics, statistics, and research. She now works as an analyst to support her art habit, which consumes much of her time outside of regular business hours.
The motivation to create and visually express herself has persevered and remained a constant since childhood, alongside that of freestyle “poetry” and writing. She hopes to do something meaningful through her work, as art has the ability create dialogue, evoke new perspectives, and raise awareness, in a way that other methods can’t.
Wells practices technique and experiments with new ideas in her spare time, continually honing her craft. While it could be said her work may falls somewhere within or around realism, surrealism, and/or pop art, it’s easier, and probably more accurate, to say that her art is just hers — it can fit into whatever genre the viewer perceives. Currently, her preferred medium is acrylic.
