ZDLR 2022
Acrylic & ink on canvas
12 x 12 inches
With the express consent of Sunny Singh of hate5six, I am excited to share this portrait of Zack de la Rocha as an example of my work. The portrait is derived from a photo he took during the first performance of Rage Against the Machine’s PSA tour, July 2022. Thanks to Sunny’s talent behind the lens, this work exists. I truly enjoyed making this piece.
Sunny’s Fistful of Steel 2022
Acrylic, ink, & glue, on canvas
14 x 11 inches
With the express consent of Sunny Singh of hate5six, I share this interpretation of a photo he took of his own hand holding the microphone that was used during the first performance of the Rage Against the Machine tour, July 2022. I knew I had to try to recreate it as soon as I saw it. This piece went through a few evolutions and near total destruction before arriving at the final product.
Melted Mic 2022
Acrylic & ink on canvas
10 x 8 inches
This is an image that finally came to life after seeing Sunny’s photo of the crushed mic from Alpine Valley. I had previously thought of the general idea of a physically melting microphone, but prior to seeing his photo, it had not been fully realized. The distorted shape of the microphone almost immediately made me think of a melting scoop of ice cream. I was already playing with melted metals, so this one came together rather quickly.
